Low sodium chili with ground beef

Description

This easy stovetop low sodium beef chili is a delicious, healthy take on a staple dinner that tastes just like the traditional recipe.


Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 tbsp olive oil

1 15oz can reduced sodium kidney beans, drained and rinsed

1 medium onion, chopped

1 14.5oz can, low sodium canned tomatoes, with juice

1 6 oz can low sodium tomato paste

1 14.5 oz can low sodium beef broth

1 15 oz can tomato sauce

2 tbsp chili powder

1 tbsp cumin

1 tsp minced garlic

2 tsp ground black pepper


Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat olive oil of medium heat. Add ground beef and chopped onion. Cook for 6-7 minutes to brown meat.
  2. Add tomato paste, garlic, pepper, chili powder, and cumin to pot. Stir until well combined and cook for another 3-4 minutes. 
  3. Add canned tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, and beans. Stir until well combined.
  4. Simmer over medium-low heat for about 30 minutes. 
  5. Let rest for about 5 minutes before serving.
