How to cook frozen pierogies in air fryer

Easily cook frozen pierogies in an air fryer for perfectly golden pastry. The air crisp setting on my ninja air fryer has become one of my favorite tools because of how easy it is to evenly cook a wide variety of foods, like these frozen egg rolls or frozen french fries.

Steps for air frying frozen pierogies

Cooking pierogies in the air fryer is simple and easy.

I use Mrs. T’s frozen pierogies because we enjoy the different flavors the brand offers and they’re consistently carried in the store in town.

The first step is optional. If you wish to you can brush or toss the frozen pierogies in oil. But it’s not a necessary step. Further down the blog post I share some side of side photos of how the pierogies turn out with and without oil.

Next place the desired number of pierogies in the air fryer. Try to place them in a single layer for best and most even cooking. If you air fry a larger batch you’ll want to increase the cooking time and shake the basket more frequently.

Cook the pierogies at 400 degrees F for 5-6 minutes.

FAQ

How long to cook air fryer frozen pierogies?

Air fry frozen pierogies for 10-12 minutes at 400 degree F. It may take more time to cook when doing a larger patch of pierogies because the hot air will flow less easily through the fryer.

Do you need oil on frozen pierogies?

Personally, I find oil unnecessary when cooking frozen pierogies in the air fryer. Without oil, the pastry will puff up more, but end up just as crisp. It’s really a personal preference whether or not you use oil.

I took comparison photos of what happens when cooking frozen pierogies with and without oil in an air fryer. In each photo below, the pierogi on the left was cooked without oil while the pierogi on the right was cooked with oil.

Is it better to cook pierogies from frozen?

Yes, if you’re buying frozen pierogies you don’t want to let them thaw. They’re designed for you to start cooking right from frozen. Just place them in the air fryer and cook for about 10-12 minutes at 400 degrees F.
